Do It Yourself Hair Bow Holder
My Husband and I knew our child was going to have lots of hair since we were both born with hair. We wanted to make an easy and cute way to display all her hair accessories. We found some material we already had around the house to do so.
Here is what you will need to get started:
- Cardboard or Thick Foam Poster Board
- Picture Frame (large)
- Wooden pieces (found in craft section to make bracelets/necklaces)
- glue gun
Take cardboard or thick foam poster board to cut to set inside picture frame. Cut fabric to fit over cardboard piece. I used the original cardboard that was already in the picture frame. Next, for easy gluing tape fabric. When you are ready to super glue remove tape from the one side to glue. The tape helps keep the other sides tight until you glue the side.
Make sure you pulled the last side you glue tight. Next, take out your ribbon (thick wide and sturdy ribbon will work best). Cut ribbon longer than needed and tape to the back. I did 4 pieces of ribbon but this will vary greatly depending on the size of your picture frame. The larger the picture frame the more the rows of ribbon you can tape down. Also make sure they are taped evenly apart. I doubled taped by taping the front of the fabric and also the rear to make sure it is pulled tight.
Note: You do not want a lot of slack in the ribbon.
Remove the tape on the back and superglue the ribbon onto the cardboard. Once complete gluing all ends onto the cardboard flip over the fabric board and remove all tape from the front of the fabric.
I found wooden pieces to make jewelry to act as stoppers for bows that tend to slide down. We glued the wooden pieces in a pattern on the ribbon. Now that you are done gluing just stick the fabric board into the frame. On the bottom of the frame take screw hooks and screw into frame on the bottom. These are good for the hair bands that do not have clips to clip onto the ribbon. Now hang frame in the child’s room.
